Fine and crisp, it is in full piled condition as originally produced for the Brides trousseau.
It was made circa late 19th century. It is additionally noteable for the striking Teal color of the main Border, for the unique braiding in the band the tassels are attached to, and for the diagional striped color effect made by the tassels. It has such great wool that to touch it, feels like petting a cat.
Turkmen Wedding trapings like this are quite unique and rare to begin with. When you factor in that they have come down to us in this fine condition, and are still paired makes them quite an extraordanary find.
These textiles are great examples of the folk art of an ancient tribal culture, and will make a meaningful addition to any collection of Oriental or tribal rugs.
