Description: |
The composition and ornament of this carpet are taken from Russian ornamental-decorative art which common element is a display of natural colors. Starting from XIX century's second half the cultural and economical bonds between Russia and Azerbaizan braodend a lot. The trade has become more active. During this period in Azerbaijan (expecially in a big trading center Shusha where this carpet was made at) the big silk scarfs produced in Russia and Hohloma's metal trays became popular. Is is considered that this carpet's design is taken from those crafts. Shusha carpets have a very complex ornament and weaving technique, thus those carpets are considered a marvelous piece of art by their right. Some people say that when you look at this carpet for a long period of time, you can see a dragon in it's ornament. We can see it, do you?
If not for some small holes and some low pile spots, this carpet would cost alot more.
