Perfect condition. This wonderfully preserved Kurdish weaving has a riot of rich dye colors. This textbook design is only used by the Kurdish tribes from the Quchan area. Quite a rare and lovely weaving.
Wilfried Stanzer, in his monograph on Quchan Kurd rugs, Kordi, p. 80 remarks that local weavers refer to the large medallions seen here as hauzi ('water-tanks'). He attributes this rugs specifically to the area of Darreh Gaz, about 100 km north east of Quchan. |
